Laléraba: Technical Assessment Mission Strengthens the Operational Launch of the Joint Border Post

A technical assessment mission was conducted on 17 April 2026 at the Laléraba Joint Border Post (JBP) under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport, at the initiative of the Transport Fluidity Observatory (OFT) and in partnership with the concessionaire Scanning Systems.

Led by Mr. Vincent Coulibaly, Director of Land Transport, representing the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, the mission was part of the preparations for the official inauguration of the OSBP scheduled for June 2026.

The objective was to assess the site’s operational readiness following the commencement of operations on 23 March 2026.

The evaluation focused on the efficiency and smooth functioning of the control procedures implemented at the border post. Field observations confirmed that the facility is fully operational while identifying a number of technical and organizational adjustments required to further enhance its performance, particularly in the areas of heavy-duty vehicle traffic management, security, and inter-agency coordination.

At the conclusion of the mission, the authorities expressed their overall satisfaction with the progress achieved, while emphasizing the need for a gradual scaling-up of operations to ensure optimal performance ahead of the official inauguration.

The mission also underscored the importance of the full deployment of all Burkinabè border agencies, which is essential to realizing the full benefits of the One-Stop Border Post concept and further facilitating trade and transit along the Abidjan-Ouagadougou corridor.”
