At the initiative of the DATC of the WAEMU Commission, experts from Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso met from April 23 to 25, 2025, at the Laléraba Joint Border Post to review and validate the security measures to be implemented at the JBP and along the Abidjan-Ouagadougou corridor.
The meeting was chaired by the Commissioner in charge of DATC, Mr. Jonas GBIAN, in the presence of the General Delegate for Peace and Security at the WAEMU Commission, Mr. Paul Robert TIENDREBEOGO.
In his speech Mr GBIAN, on behalf of the President of the UEMOA Commission, thanked the senior authorities of Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire for facilitating the meeting. He also encouraged the experts to support the ongoing integration efforts within the Union.
This meeting is related to the upcoming opening of the Joint Border Post and was preceded by a visit of the DATC delegation, the representatives of the two border states and Scanning Systems to the Prefect of the Ouangolodougou Department, Mr. TOURE Djamatigui.
Following the discussions and a closed-door meeting between the security forces of the two countries, the security measures for the Abidjan-Ouagadougou corridor and the Laléraba Joint Border Post was adopted.
